Core Courses

Our next core course is Ministry Development and our text: From Dream to Reality. dream to reality book coverWe’ll read a little of the history of TC Southeast as Dr. Jerry Nance shares the early years of developing the ministry. This book reveals the principles that evolved during the building years of the organization. You’ll learn principles such as:

  • The leader must hear from God
  • Pray Hard, Work Hard, Then Pray God Blesses Your Work
  • Cherish and Celebrate Victories along the Way
  • You Can Fund Your Vision
  • Learn to Laugh and much more…

You can see your dream become a reality as you apply these principles and as you stay faithful to the dream in your heart. Don’t quit short of what God has put in your heart to accomplish. God has a master plan for your life and He has endowed you with the gifts and talents to accomplish what He has called you to do.

Your first post will be up on the forum Monday, April 18th. You’ll make an initial post and respond to someone’s post.

October is Celebrate Rep’s Month!!

The ELP Rep is the key to the ELP on the local campus – they are a crucial element to the success and effectiveness of the program. This role is critical to raise up sons and daughters who are called long-term to Teen Challenge. Oftentimes it is overlooked so this month we want to take the time to celebrate the Rep’s on our campuses. Spend time to find out what fills their tank and make them feel appreciated. Here are a few ideas of how you can bless the Rep’s on your campus:

  • Celebrate their achievements –  talk about all the ways they have added value to the center both in front of them and when they are not around
  • Spend quality time – take them out to coffee or lunch and talk about them and what’s happening in their life
  • Give them a “just because” gift – gift cards are great but something handmade, personal and creative says more
  • Invest in their leadership – connect them with a mentor/coach or take them along with you to a meeting
  • Acts of Service – offer to conduct one of their weekly meetings

Level II – July 2015

Core Courses

Our next Core Course is Ministry Development and our text: From Dream to Reality by Dr. Jerry Nance. Dr. J outlines 21 principles for us to move our dreams from just a dream – to reality. The leader must hear from God, Pray hard, work hard and then pray God blesses your work, cherish and celebrate victories along the way, learning to laugh and much more.  Some of you should have a copy of this book but if you don’t email me at andree.aiken@teenchallenge.cc and I’ll mail one to you.

Your first post for this course will be up on the forum Monday, July 20th. You’ll make an initial post and then respond to someone’s post.

ELP Summit

Registration is open for the ELP Summit Apr 23-25. If you have not already done so, go ahead and register. This year is the 10th Anniversary of the ELP and we are excited to celebrate with you, our Emerging Leaders for aspiring to greater levels of responsibility within Teen Challenge.

Welcome

This month we welcome Dawn Gallagher (Pen W), Billy Crocker (Southwest FL M), Becca Price (Women at the Well, PA) and Justin Hartmann (Jax) to the Level II. I’m looking forward to work with you and see how God matures you and your leadership over the next few months.

Core Courses

Our next Core Course is Leadership Principles and our book: 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John Maxwell. Maxwell talks about how leadership requires you to do 21 Laws PICmore than one thing well. To do leadership well, we must do 21 things well. Whether you are a follower who is just beginning to discover the impact of leadership or a natural leader who already has followers, you can become a better leader. No matter where you are in the leadership process, the greater the number of laws you learn, the better leader you will become.

We will send you the DVD set from the office. When the course is finished please return the DVD’s, if not your center will be charged the cost ($299) of the DVD’s. Your first post will be up on the forum Monday, March 16th

ELP Rep’s Link – Oct 2014

We want to welcome Kerry Pevey (transfer from Accounts Payable Dept. ) to theKerry. Pevey Corporate Training Team as the ELP Administrative Assistant. Kerry is a great addition to the team and will be taking over the Level I application processing and book orders. Go ahead and send all Level I applications to her attention.

Level I Adult 

This month we continue with our course Knowing and Understanding God’sExperiencingGod Will and our text is Experiencing God by Blackaby, Blackaby and King. Your students should be about half way into this course and are learning more about being still and watching where God is working and join Him in His work rather than doing and then inviting God to bless their efforts. Look for opportunities to affirm and celebrate your students when you see them practically applying the principles in the book.

Level I Adolescent

Our course for the Adolescent track is Discover Your God-given Gifts and our text: Congratulations…You’re Gifted! by Doug Fields & Erik Rees. Your students will discover the place where your God-given passions and strengths intersect, and you’ll find the way you’re designed to serve. With interactive exercises and questions for you to answer, you’ll learn more about your:

Southeast region Rep’s can go to Google Drive and search for ELP Monthly Order Form and Grade Sheet Edited. Look for your center’s name in the tabs at the bottom and fill in your center’s information. No need to save or email the spreadsheet (Google Drive saves it and I can access the info from my Drive). If you place an initial order on the form and update the order later (i.e. add 2 more books) after we have ordered your books, please send Kerry Pevey an email at kerry.pevey@teenchallenge.cc. Freedom Costs a Price

Richard Henry Lee oilA Leader who sets a Nation Free

Great Leaders set others free. On June 7th 1775, Richard Henry Lee of Virgina presented a resolution for the united colonies to be free from British rule. “Let it be resolved that these united colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain is, and ought to be, totally dissolved “http://www.military.com/independence-day/history-of-independence-day.html. Lee’s words set the flywheels turning for a series of events that led to the drafting of a formal Declaration of Independence and on July 4, 1776, the thirteen colonies claimed their independence from England – an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States. Each year on July 4th, also known as Independence Day, Americans celebrate this historic event.  These few words and a series of action, set in motion that which would change the history of this great nation and its people forever. Last week we celebrating over 200 years of independence, but it took one leader who considered the welfare of the people above his; one leader who sought the good of the people and acted to bring about change. Freedom cost a price, oftentimes not to the one who enjoys its, but to the one who gave his life for it. Thank you to our forefathers who paved the way for our independence.

A Leader who sets Addicts Free

Another great leader got his call in 1958 to go and help those boys in New York City. Davida_David_Wilkerson Wilkerson was a 26 year-old Pentecostal preacher from Pennsylvania who answered the call to go to New York. After a series of encounters with God first, and then with addicts and gang members, the Teen Challenge ministry was started.  David had a clear vision for the addict “they could begin life all over again, with the fresh and innocent personalities of newborn children.” This time they would grow up in an environment surrounded by love. “A house where these new kids could come – a really nice house where they are welcomed and loved, the door would always be open; there would always be lots and lots of beds, clothes to wear and a great big kitchen for meals.” Today, there are over 1200 Teen Challenge homes like this in 102 countries of the world. It all started with one leader leaving his family in Pennsylvania to go and help those boys. In Teen Challenge, being set free is no small task. Our students walk in with years and years of lies, generational curses, hurts and other issues embedded deep into their hearts and minds. They enter as slaves – trapped in a dead-end life of sin. A slave is a transient, who can’t come and go at will. They enter Teen Challenge where Jesus steps in and break their chains of sin and shame and cover them with grace; He reaches out a hand to save and set them free. He transforms slaves into sons, who have an established position in the house (the Kingdom) and who can run around it with glee. Teen Challenge is where life-transformation happens – people encounter God and are born again into a new life. We are establishing sons and daughters to enjoy their freedom in Christ – serving the Lord with gladness. No more legalism and religion, they have experienced Love which motivates them to freely give to the One who paid the price for them.

A Greater Leader who sets the World Free

Over 2000 years ago another great leader, in an expression of love for people, gave a Jesus 10155746_678591885530960_857185614685534700_nmost precious gift – His Son who stood in our place to set us free. “This is how much God loved the world; He gave His Son, His one and only Son.” Why? “So that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life; those who trust in Him is acquitted.” (John 3:16-18, TM).  He gives us new desires and a new heart altogether that would want to follow Him. So if the Son sets you free, you are free through and through.(John 8:34-38, TM). Jesus says “if you stick with this, living out what I tell you, then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you” (John 8:31-32, TM). This truth is the Word of God which expels darkness and help us to walk in the Light.  To walk in the Light means to be free from darkness. The ultimate sacrifice for your life was paid by one man who gave His life – Jesus Christ.
