Teen Challenge Center: Graduated from Davie Teen Challenge, 2016
Brief Testimony: My parents were divorced when I was 2 years old. I lived with my dad for the early part of my childhood, my dad was an alcoholic. I moved in with my mom when I was 12 and started drinking and experimenting with drugs at age 13. At 28 I found myself in a very abusive relationship, very hopeless and broken. I came to Teen Challenge and found love in the right place and so much has been restored in my life. I know that God is able and He is the lover of my soul.
What is the vision and calling that God has given you? God has called me to be a light in a dark world. I know that He has called me to be a leader within Teen Challenge, to continue giving the same hope that was given to me to others. I know He is raising me up to spread His love to others.
How has the Emerging Leaders Program impacted you? ELP has given me the ability to admit my faults and recognize that I’m not perfect. It has taught me to remain teachable and allow God to show me how to lead like Jesus did. I’m so happy I decided to remain on this journey and I’m so ready to go to the next level with my God!
Testimony: I was raised in a well-to-do God fearing family who instilled great morals and values. I gave my life to the Lord when I was 13 years old and was made to go to church until I was 16 years old. I began to live a life of rebellion around the age of 18 which included smoking pot and drinking. Soon after I became addicted to opiates, which caused my life to spiral out of control. I continued to battle addiction for the next 20 years, making countless attempts at sobriety in countless treatment centers. All failed until God brought me to Teen Challenge.
What is the vision and calling that God has given you? After my encounter with God I was given a whole new outlook on life and a new vision for my future. Being delivered from my addiction, through the power of Jesus Christ has made an eternal impact on my life. I now know it is my duty to lead others to have the same experience and receive the same saving grace.
How has the ELP Program impacted you? My main goal in ELP is to acquire the wisdom and skills needed to develop the ability to lead like Jesus. I would like to learn how to teach and commune with other disciples of Christ ultimately leading others to our common goal; beings freed from the chains of addiction and other life controlling problems through the power of Jesus Christ.
Name: Craig Jemmott
Age: 45 Hometown: Queens New York
Teen Challenge Center: Arizona Tucson Men’s Induction Center. 2013 Graduate from Teen Challenge of Arizona
My Testimony: At the age of 29, my life took a huge turn that lasted 12 years before I found Teen Challenge. My addiction to crack cocaine took me to places that I never ever dreamed of going. It was at Teen Challenge where God met me, right where I was at, and through His grace I will be forever changed.
The Purpose and Calling God has Given Me: My purpose is to love the unlovable and to reach the unreachable with the gospel of good news in our Lord, Jesus Christ. The calling is to be a shepherd to a flock.
The ELP’s Impact on My Leadership: Level 1 of ELP has shown me the importance of being an Armor Bearer, Team Player, and making healthy boundaries in my personal life and work environment which resulted in teaching me the value of being a “Servant Leader.” While serving as the Intake Coordinator, I learned how to organize my work day as the result of taking the ELP Administrative Career Track. This helped me to become the organized leader that I am today.
Teen Challenge Center: Teen Challenge Middle Georgia
My testimony in brief: I first came to Teen Challenge Christmas Eve 2013 weighing 127 lbs and had been out of control for a long time. After being sober for about 30 days I figured I already knew God and now that my withdrawals were over I’d be ok—so I left. Just two days later I was in a coma from a heroin overdose and also had a minor stroke 11 days later. I got out of the hospital and never slowed down, and after 6 months and 3 more overdoses and thoughts of suicide, God brought me back to Teen Challenge.
Now I am up to 200 lbs, very happy and I have a boldness I’ve never had and also I’m able to give back to the ministry God used to bring me back to him.
The purpose and calling God has given me: My purpose and God’s calling has been to use my compassion and be an open ear for those who struggle the way I have, and to help wherever I am needed.
ELP’s impact on my leadership: ELP has helped my leadership by helping me realize who I am in God’s kingdom and how he wants to use me.
We continue with our course Boundaries and our text: Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud. By now your students should be half way in the book. Remember there is no test for this course. You’ll assess their Study Guide and involvement at weekly meetings.
Level I Adolescent
Our course for the Adolescent track is Discover your God-given Purpose and the text: Chazownby Craig Groeschel. The Hebrew word “Chazown” (pronounced “khaw-ZONE”) means dream, vision or revelation. Craig Groeschel believes that your very own Chazown is hiding just under the surface of your life in three often overlooked areas: your core values, your spiritual gifts, and your past experiences. Pursue your Chazown and simultaneously improve five critical aspects of your life – your relationship with God, your relationships with people, your finances, your health and fitness, and your vocational life. You were born with your own Chazown. Do you know what it is?

My name is Jarret Murray and I am thirty-three years old. I am from Labelle, Florida and am currently a student at the Ft. Meyers, Florida Teen Challenge.
I believe the purpose and calling God has given me is to serve others who have been through similar struggles. ELP has been a part of me fulfilling my purpose and calling by helping me to become a Christ-centered leader.
I started using drugs at the age of thirteen which led to my life spiraling out of control. I began leading the lifestyle of a criminal and ended up in jail and prison many times. I tried to stop using and get my life under control on my own many times. In 2012, after not being able to take anymore I tried to commit suicide multiple times. I eventually ended up back in jail where I learned about Teen Challenge. Through this center I have found God’s grace. He has restored my life and I helped me to find purpose for my life.
This is the first in our Series of 12 Podcast on Coaching where Cathy Alford (Founder of Life Works Coaching in Columbus, GA) and I talk about “What is Coaching?” You can dowload the audio recording here. Attached is the PowerPoint slides for this podcast.
My name is Sarah Nash and I am eighteen years old. I grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. I have been in Teen Challenge- Columbus Girls Academy for ten months. My childhood was pretty good, but I had always had behavioral issues growing up. When I got into high school I began using drugs and alcohol to help me get through my days. I got in trouble with the law some and soon after that my parents sent me to Teen Challenge. Being here has shown me how God uses everyone in many different ways for His glory. He showed me that His purpose for me is to not waste my days, but instead to proclaim His message to all people. I believe that being in the Emerging Leader’s Program will help me grow in my walk with God and show me things that Gods wants me to learn.

This month our core course is Core Values and our text: Our Core Values by our very own Dr. Jerry Nance. Our Core Values connect our people to our culture. We are encouraged to practice these 7 values every day; during our operations, our decisions, how we act and what we believe. Dr. J says “my prayer is that this book will challenge you to become a person of integrity and compassion, who is full of vision and faith.” “I trust you will apply these truths in your community, and practice stewardship, and servanthood.”

This month we are starting one of my favorite courses Knowing and Understanding God’s Will and our text is Experiencing God by Blackaby, Blackaby and King. God is inviting you to experience Him in an intimate love relationship through which He reveals to you His will, His ways, and His work. Through the biblical principles in this course, God can teach you how to:
Know when He is speaking to you;
Recognize His activity around you;
Adjust your life to Him and His ways;
Identify what He wants to do through you;
Respond to His activity in your life.
